PasswordGen is a program that generates cryptographically secure passwords. The length of the password can be specified, as well as the characters that are used. The program outputs the password in plain text and in hashed forms for various common use cases.

Usage

PasswordGen [<size> [<alphabet>]]

Argument Description
size Specifies the length of the password to generate.
alphabet The list of characters that will be used in the password.

When size is not specified, the program asks for a length.

PasswordGen produces the following output:

Password The password in clear text.
SHA1 base-64 The SHA1 hash of the password, encoded in base-64.
SHA1 hex The SHA1 hash of the password, encoded in hexadecimal.
SHA1 WebForms The SHA1 hash of the password, encoded in the format used for .NET forms authentication.
MD5 base-64 The MD5 hash of the password, encoded in base-64.
MD5 hex The MD5 hash of the password, encoded in hexadecimal.
MD5 WebForms The MD5 hash of the password, encoded in the format used for .NET forms authentication.
Random bytes A sequence of random bytes with the length of the password, encoded in hexadecimal.
Bytes in decimal The same sequence of random bytes, encoded in decimal and separated by coma.
